SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The Lyon of the Week has been announced and hunt seat rider Bridget Finnerty garnered the honor. A junior captain, she helped lead the Lyons to victory at the Amherst College Show, taking home individual honors as well.
Finnerty, who hails from Baltimore, Md., posted victory in both Open Fences and Open Flat last Saturday as Mount Holyoke earned top honors at the Amherst College Show with 43 points. For her efforts, she was named the overall High Point Rider.
On the season, the former Bryn Mawr School standout has notched nine top-four finishes. In addition to her performance at Amherst, Finnerty also put in a first-place finish in Open Fences at the Mount Holyoke Show on October 24th. Other top performances this season have come at the Preseason Tournament of Champions, where she was second in Open Flat and fourth in Open Fences.
Last season, Finnerty produced seven first-place finishes, while placing no less than sixth during any event of the regular season. Among the highlights was at the Regional Championships, where she won both Open Fences and Open Flat enroute to earning High Point Open Flat Rider honors.
During her rookie season, Finnerty has six first-place finishes, highlighted by Open Flat and Fences wins at the Mount Holyoke Spring Show.
Mount Holyoke returns to action on November 14 when it competes in Hadley, Mass., at the 2015 UMass/Amherst Show.
