THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke is back in action at home on Thursday, welcoming the Mammoths of Amherst College. In the all-time series, which dates back to 1977 (a 3-0 MHC win), Amherst holds a 33-5-1 edge, including victories in each of the last three contests. MHC's last win came in 2013 in a 3-2 double-overtime affair in South Hadley.
THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (1-0) returns to the field following a 2-0 victory over Rensselaer on Sunday. The win saw Lyons' midfielders Mirjam Keochakian and Kathryn Rawson each score, while sophomore goalie Morgan Turner made her first career start - earning both the win and the shutout.
THE MAMMOTHS: Amherst (0-0) opens its season in Thursday's game, following a 2016 in which it finished 11-5 overall and 6-4 in the NESCAC standings, including a trip to the NESCAC Quarterfinals. The Mammoths return three of their top five scorers from a season ago, among them is senior forward Mary Grace Cronin (8g-4a-20pts).
