Lyons Tales: A Review & Preview of Mount Holyoke Athletics for Jan. 13th



The Lyons return to action on January 25th at the 2014 Winter Tournament of Champions, hosted by the University of Mary Washington in Virginia.


Mount Holyoke (5-2; dual meet) went 2-1 last week, defeating Clark (167-67) and Simmons (158-128), while falling to Wheaton (121-110). Sophomroe Cathleen Pruden (Raleigh, N.C.) had an outstanding effort, touching the wall first in seven events. The Lyons are right back in action on Monday afternoon when they take on Trinity at the MHC Nataorium at 4pm.

Mount Holyoke then heads to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to compete in the 2014 Seven Sisters Championship, hosted by Vassar College. Action begins on Saturday and runs through Sunday. More info can be found on the championship webpage by clicking HERE.


The #21 squash team (5-3) shouldered a tough loss to #17 Middlebury (9-0) on Saturday. The Lyons are back in action at home this weekend as they host the Pioneer Valley Invitational. MHC plays the first of five matches, beginning Friday at 1pm against Hamilton. For the complete schedule of games, click HERE.


MHC suffered losses to Babson (67-42), Coast Guard (57-34) and Emerson (52-48) in NEWMAC action last week. The Lyons (4-9; 1-7 NEWMAC) are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Springfield for a 7pm game against the Pride. MHC then welcomes Wellesley and WPI on Saturday (1pm) and Sunday (2pm), respectively.
