Lyons Tales: A Review & Preview of Mount Holyoke Athletics for Feb. 3rd

The Lyons return to action on February 22 when they compete at the UMass Horse Show.

Mount Holyoke (5-4; dual meet) were idle last week, but return to the pool on Saturday when they travel to Northampton for a 1pm dual meet at Smith.

The #22 squash team (8-9) defeated Smith by a 9-0 margin, but fell to Wellesley, 6-3, in the deciding match at the 2014 Seven Sisters Championship. The Lyons finished second overall and were paced by senior captain Randima Ranaweera (Columbo, Sri Lanka) and sophomore Sherouk Khefagy (Cairo, Egypt), both of whom were named to the All-Tournament Team.

MHC is back in action on Wednesday when it travels to Amherst for a 6pm match against the Jeffs. The Lyons round out the week at the Division III Nationals, as select members of the squad compete in the three-day event at Bowdoin.

Despite 17.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game average from junior forward Amber Legare (Chicopee, Mass.) last week, the Lyons went 0-2 in NEWMAC play. Among her highlights was a 19 point and 11 rebound performance in Saturday's loss to MIT as she recorded her 10th double-double of the season.

The Lyons (5-15; 2-13 NEWMAC) are back on the court on Saturday when they host Babson in a 1pm game at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium. Links to live stats and video for this week's game can be found HERE.

Mount Holyoke had a solid outing at the University of Southern Maine Invitational last weekend. The Lyons finished 10th overall and were paced by a fourth-place finish from sophomore Elizabeth DeLeon (Boise, Idaho) in the 3,000-meter run. MHC is back in action on Saturday when it competes at the MIT Invitational in Cambridge.
