The Lyons are idle until Thursday when the squad competes at the IHSA National Championships, hosted at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, Pa. Action at the meet runs through Sunday.
The Lyons finished eighth overall at the 2014 NEWMAC Championships, which they hosted last weekend. MHC was paced by sophomore Camille Coklow (Chicago, Ill.), who won the 100-meter dash to garner All-Conference First Team recognition. Mount Holyoke returns to action on Friday when qualified members of the squad travel to Springfield to compete in the New England Division III Championships. The meet will run through Saturday.
MHC shouldered a heart-breaking 18-17 loss to MIT in the NEWMAC Quarterfinals last week. Junior captain Kirsten Kilburn (North Branford, Conn.) led the offensive effort for the Lyons, scoring five goals. Mount Holyoke concluded its season in the loss, going 8-8 overall with a 3-4 NEWMAC mark.
The Lyons were idle last week, but return to action on Saturday when they compete in the New England Championships in Worcester.
The Lyons stormed back from an eight-stroke deficit to win the 2014 Liberty League Championships last weekend by a 21-point margin. Mount Holyoke saw all five of its competing players earn All-League honors, led by First Team selections Madi Mendiola (San Diego, Calif.), June Conti (Amenia, N.Y.) and Heeamin Lee (Chestnut Hill, Mass.). The Lyons now wait to see if they are selected to compete in the NCAA Championships.
