The Lyons went 2-0 last week, defeating Clark (71-61) before downing Saint Joseph (CT), 70-54. Senior forward Amber Legare (Chicopee, Mass.) paced the offensive effort, averaging 27.5 points and 16.0 rebounds per contest. MHC (4-8; 1-2 NEWMAC) is back in action on Tuesday in a 7pm game at NEWMAC-rival WPI. The Lyons then host Smith on Thursday (7pm) before closing out the week at Emerson on Saturday (1pm). The Lyons were back in the pool with a pair of meets last week. MHC defeated Clark (146-94), but fell to Wheaton (130-111) in tri-meet action in Worcester. The Lyons then battled Simmons the next day, picking up a victory (173-116) in their own pool. Mount Holyoke was led by junior Cathleen Pruden (Raleigh, N.C.), who notched a combined seven victories.
Action continues for the Lyons (5-2) on Tuesday when they battle Trinity and Vassar in a tri-meet in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. (1pm). MHC then welcomes a number of teams on Saturday and Sunday for the annual Seven Sisters Championship. Action begins at 10am on Saturday in the MHC Natatorium. Mount Holyoke (4-6) shouldered tough losses to Bates (9-0) and Middlebury (9-0) last week. The Lyons are back in action at home on Friday on day one of the Pioneer Valley Invitational, hosted by MHC, Amherst & Smith. Action on Friday at MHC features the Lyons taking on Hamilton (12pm) and Colby (3pm). Mount Holyoke then plays on Saturday, also at home, against Bowdoin (3:30pm).
The Lyons are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Medford, Mass., to compete at the Tufts Invitational. Action gets underway at 11am.
Mount Holyoke is idle until January 24th when it heads to Virginia to compete in the Winter Tournament of Champions, which is the third, and final event in the series.
