Scecina was named NEWMAC Coach of the Year after leading the Lyons to their first ever NEWMAC Championship in 2006-07. A four year starter at Springfield, Scecina graduated as the school’s all-time leading rebounder and also reached the 1,000 point plateau. She was an ECAC All-Region Team honoree as a junior in 1995-96 and was named to the NEWBA Senior All-Star Team in 1996-97. After earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in physical education from Springfield in 1997, she went on to earn her Master of Education Degree in health studies from the College in 2001.

Scecina is in her fourth season as Co-President of the NEWBA and has served as a member of the NCAA Regional Rankings Committee in recent years.

In addition to her coaching duties at Mount Holyoke, she teaches many of the badminton and racquetball classes in the Department of Physical Education. Scecina is an American Red Cross certified instructor in water safety, life guarding, CPR and community first aid. She typically teaches the Advanced Beginning section of the swimming curriculum.
