Squash Drops a Pair
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. (Jan. 11, 2009) – Competing for the first time in over a month, the Mount Holyoke College women’s squash team suffered a pair of setbacks today at Williams College. The Lyons were edged 5-4 by Middlebury College in their first contest of the day. They then took on the host Ephs, falling 9-0.
The Lyons were unable to secure a point in their tilt against Williams, but Anckermann, Gurunada and Robinson each played competitive matches. In the number one contest, Anckermann fell 3-1 to Toby Eyre, who finished the 2007-08 season as the fourth ranked player in the nation. Meanwhile, both Gurunada and Robinson fell in five sets at the numbers two and five positions, respectively.
Mount Holyoke (5-3) will open its home slate on Thursday versus Amherst College at 2:00 p.m.
