CLINTON, N.Y. - It was a tough day of competition for the Mount Holyoke College squash team, which suffered 9-0 losses on the road against St. Lawrence University and Hamilton College. The Lyons saw several strong performances, but slip to 4-13 on the season.
First year Brandy Williamson played a tough match in Saturday's opener against St. Lawrence. Squaring off against Jill Baker, Williamson fought hard but fell 11-9, 11-6, 11-9. Classmate Emily Chang also had an outstanding effort, but was unable to pull out the victory. She shouldered a 3-2 (10-12, 11-8, 11-7, 6-11, 11-3) loss to Allie Brazo.
In the second match of the day against the host Continentals, Williamson played a tough match in the first flight against Hilary Gray. Facing an 0-2 situation, she battled for an 11-8 win in the third game, but ultimately fell in the fourth for a match score of 3-1 (11-9, 11-7, 8-11, 11-4).
The Lyons return to action on Wednesday when they host Amherst at 6pm. The game also marks Senior Night for MHC's graduating seniors.
