Colorado Springs, Colo. - July 9, 2020 - The Mount Holyoke College swimming and diving team was honored for their hard work both in the pool and in the classroom, as the Lyons collected the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team honors, announced in early July.
The Lyons, which held a cumulative grade-point average of 3.63 following the 2019-20 academic year, were one of 801 programs from 461 institutions named a Scholar All-America Team for the Spring 2020 semester.
Announced on Wednesday, Mount Holyoke College had three divers that earned CSCAA Scholar All-America honors including senior Samantha Nemivant (Scottsdale, Ariz.), junior Katie Kolozsvari (Danville, Ind.) and sophomore Kathryn Murphy (Fairport, N.Y.). The award recognizes students who achieved a grade-point average of 3.50 or higher and were invited to compete at their respective national championship.
This marks the third-straight season that Nemivant was recognized with CSCAA individual academic honors, while it was also the second-straight year that Kolozsvari collected Scholar All-America honors from the CSCAA.
The trio of divers all qualified for the 2020 NCAA Division III Diving Regional Championship this past February. Nemivant led the group on the one-meter board with a 13th-place finish among the region's top competition, while Murphy finished 10th overall on the three-meter board the following day.
Nemivant capped her career at Mount Holyoke College in impressive fashion, as the Chemistry major collected four separate New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Diver of the Week honors during the 2019-20 season. She was also named the Mount Holyoke College Athletics Senior Fall/Winter Athlete of the Year in 2020.
Founded in 1922, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), is the nation's first organization of college coaches. The mission of the CSCAA is to advance the sport of swimming and diving with coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development.
