Dave Allen enters his 21st season as head coach of the Mount Holyoke College swimming and diving program. His squads have been competitive within the region since he took over in 1998.

With Allen at the helm over 100 College and pool records have fallen. Several athletes have qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships, including two-time NCAA National All-American Cathleen Pruden, who was also an eight-time NEWMAC Champion and the conference's Swimmer of the Year in both 2015 & 2016.

He has accumulated a dual meet record of 94-72-1, and his 2007-08 and 2015-16 squads posted the top grade point average in the nation among women’s teams competing at the NCAA Division III level.

Prior to joining the Mount Holyoke staff, Allen was an assistant swimming and diving coach at both the University of Rochester (1997-98) and Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota (1995-97). While at St. Mary’s, he also served as an Athletic Trainer (1993-95).

Allen is certified as both a strength and conditioning specialist as well as an athletic trainer. He earned his Master of Science Degree in exercise science-human performance from the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse and his Bachelor of Science in physical education from Bridgewater State College.

In addition to his coaching duties, Allen is the College’s Aquatics Director and an instructor in its Department of Physical Education. He is an American Red Cross certified instructor in water safety, life guarding, CPR and community first aid. Allen currently serves as the Assistant Director and Swim Coach for the United States Sports Camps. He has been involved in the camp since 1988.

Werenski joined the Lyons swimming and diving staff as the assistant coach in September 2017.

A former standout at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Werenski competed for the Minutemen and served as a captain in her senior season. A top finisher in the Atlantic 10 Conference numerous times, she also competed at the 2012 Olympic Trials.

Werenski, a South Hadley, Mass., native also taught swim lessons as a lifeguard at the Greater Holyoke YMCA for a year before working as a camp counselor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst Championship Swim Camp from 2014-2016. Additionally, she served as a teaching assistant for anatomy and physiology as well as a physical therapy aide for Pioneer Spine and Sports Physicians.

A 2017 graduate from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a bachelor’s of science degree in kinesiology, Werenski is set to receive her Masters of Science from the same institution for in business and analytics.
