WILLIMANTIC, Conn. - Senior Joeanna Silvey posted 23 points to help lift MHC past Fitchburg State in a come-from-behind win, 65-53. The Lyons trailed 25-32 at the half, but exploded for 40 points in the second frame to clinch their season-opener at the Eastern Connecticut State University Tip-Off Tournament. MHC will face host ECSU in the title game at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 19. ECSU defeated Roger Williams in the first game, 71-59.

Silvey led all scorers with 23 points, including 10-for-13 from the charity stripe. The senior guard is just 24 points away from the 1,000-point milestone. First-year Jessica Olson netted 13 points on 50% shooting from the floor (6-12). Senior Angela Astuccio led all rebounders with nine caroms and managed five assists for the night. For Fitchburg, D'Yana Delpero led the offensive charge with 16 points. MHC out-shot Fitchburg from the field (42.6%-34.5%) and from the free-throw line (72.7%-42.1%).
