2009-10 Outdoor Track and Field Season in Review

The Mount Holyoke outdoor track and field team competed in nine events under the direction of 24th year head coach Christina Lee in 2010. Sophomore Miriam Larson-Koester paced the Lyons with her outstanding results in the discus. For a four week span, she established new school records in the event.

With 24th year head coach Christina Lee at the helm, the Mount Holyoke indoor track and field team took part in eight events during the 2009-10 season. Leading the way for the Lyons were sophomore Miriam Larson-Koester, junior Jacinta Edebeli and first year Maddie Ballon, who each qualified for the New England Division III Championships.

For the fourth week in a row, Mount Holyoke College Miriam Larson-Koester established a new school record in the discus. The sophomore recorded a toss of 41.78 meters today at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Springfield College.

For the third week in a row, Mount Holyoke College sophomore Miriam Larson-Koester established a new school record in the discus. After shattering Amanda Salb's previous mark of 39.27 meters at the NEWMAC Championships on April 24, she bested her own record last weekend at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships.

Awards Handed Out at Annual Athletic Banquet

The Mount Holyoke College Department of Athletics hosted its annual awards celebration this evening in Chapin Auditorium. Individuals from all 14 varsity teams were honored. Squash Head Coach Allen Fitzsimmons served as the event's emcee. Soccer team member Lauren Orr earned the prestigious Alumnae Association Scholar-Athlete Award.

NEWMAC Announces Spring Academic All-Conference Squads

The NEWMAC recently announced its 2010 Spring Academic All-Conference Teams. Eighteen Mount Holyoke College student-athletes were recognized for their achievements in their respective sports as well as in the classroom. Academic All-Conference Teams were selected for the sports of lacrosse, crew and track and field.
