WORCESTER, Mass. (Apr. 14, 2012) – The Mount Holyoke College crew team posted outstanding results on Lake Quinsigamond today. In addition to taking top honors in their first varsity race against Smith College, the Lyons also clocked the second best time in the novice race.
Mount Holyoke's first varsity eight boat cruised past Smith by nearly nine seconds with its time of 7:13.90.
The Lyons were also impressive in the novice eight race, crossing the line in 7:43.06. They finished in front of the College of Holy Cross and a pair of Smith boats. Smith's top novice team won with a time of 7:30.90.
Mount Holyoke's second and third varsity eight boats also competed, recording times of 7:50.90 and 8:29.51, respectively.
The Lyons will return to Lake Quinsigamond tomorrow to compete against Clark University, Simmons College and Franklin and Marshall College.
