Rowing Finishes Well Against Strong Competition in Worcester

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Mount Holyoke College rowing team was back in the water on Sunday, taking on several opponents on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester. Pacing the way was the novice eight crew, which finished second overall in their event.

The novice eight posted a time of 8:23.5 on Sunday, finishing second only to the University of Vermont, which won with a time of 8:11.1. UMass-Lowell was third with a mark of 8:41.7.

In the varsity eight race, the Lyons recorded a time of 7:20.9, finishing just behind third-place UMass-Lowell, which posted a time of 7:20.0. Simmons won the varsity eight race with a mark of 7:08.2, while the University of Vermont was second with a time of 7:18.7. Clark finished fifth in the race with a mark of 7:40.6.

The Lyons return to action on Saturday as they head to New London, Conn., for a race against the Coast Guard Academy.
