CORTLAND, N.Y. (Sept. 12, 2010) – Led by senior midfielder Casey Reinhardt and junior defender Jordan Miller, the SUNY Cortland women's soccer team topped Mount Holyoke College 7-0 today at the Red Dragon Classic. Reinhardt tallied the first three goals of the match, and Miller collected four assists.
In today's other contest, Skidmore College downed Kenyon College 3-1. Skidmore and Cortland each ended the weekend with 1-0-1 marks, while Kenyon posted a 1-1 mark. Mount Holyoke dropped both of its contests. All four matchups took place at Halloway Field.
In addition to Reinhardt and Miller, the Dragons also received solid production from first year forward Maria Scerra, who found the back of the net twice. Fellow first year Matison Williams finished with a goal and an assist, while classmate Cait Reilly chipped in with one goal.
Junior forward Margaret Hanmer and sophomore midfielder Veronica Farmer posted two shots apiece for the Lyons.
Cortland outshot the Lyons 31-7 and finished with a 9-2 advantage in corner chances. Senior goalkeepers Pam Monnier and Dayna Moneta split time in net, making one and two saves, respectively.
Senior Elaine Harvey turned away seven shots in 71 minutes for the guests before giving way to first year Emily Shank, who did not face a shot down the stretch.
Mount Holyoke (0-2, 0-0 NEWMAC) will return to action on Wednesday at Amherst College at 7:00 p.m.
