Volleyball honored by AVCA with a top 20 percent team GPA

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke College volleyball team repeated as a Team Academic Honor Roll honoree for being among the top 20 percent of Division III women's volleyball teams in team grade point average for the 2023-24 academic year, as announced Thursday by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

The Lyons were among a record number of more than 1,400 volleyball programs earning AVCA Team Academic Award, sponsored by INTENT. Initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, the award honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale. Mount Holyoke boasted a 3.688 team GPA for the academic year, while finishing with a double-digit win total for the second straight year at 11-16.

In December, the team placed the maximum four players on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, in Madeline Barton, Lucie Berclaz, Sadie Duffrin and Elle Rimando.

The AVCA's mission is to advance the sport of volleyball with AVCA coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development. The membership includes more than 9,500 collegiate, professional, high school, club, and youth volleyball coaches—primarily in the United States.
