NEWPORT, R.I. -- Lauren Hoyle had 16 kills and Lucy Swanson added 12 kills and 18 digs as Salve Regina University outlasted the Mount Holyoke College volleyball team in a 3-2 (22-25, 25-21, 25-16, 16-25, 15-5) NEWMAC match on Saturday.
The host Seahawks rose to 5-7 overall and 2-0 in NEWMAC play with their third straight victory. Mount Holyoke dropped to 8-4, 0-2 in conference with its third loss in a row.
Senior Lucie Berclaz (Hull, Mass.) led the Lyons with 14 kills to go with 19 digs. Junior Madeline Barton (Brookfield, Wis.) added nine kills and 22 digs. Sophomore Kyra Staples (Chatham, Ill.) posted a match-high 32 digs with three aces, while junior Amelia Ringor (Lafayette, Ind.) had 14 digs and three aces.
Junior Sadie Duffrin (Minneapolis, Minn.) added 34 assists and nine digs. Junior Elle Rimando (Mililani, Hawaii) had eight kills and two blocks, and first-year Olivia Murray (Miami, Fla.) had seven kills for the Lyons.
Siena DeCicco totaled 32 assists with 18 digs for Salve Regina, which posted a .146 attack percentage for the match to Mount Holyoke's .078 mark. Lily Dobbins led the Seahawks with 25 digs.
Mount Holyoke next plays at Emerson in a NEWMAC match on Tuesday at 7pm.
