MILL SPRING, N.C. -- Mount Holyoke senior Kate Smith got the IHSA Nationals off to a fantastic start for the Lyons hunt seat riding team on Friday, as Smith won Reserve Champion honors for finishing second among 16 competitors in Team Limit Flat.

Smith's (Wells, Vt.) performance was the only one for Mount Holyoke on the first of three days at Tryon International Equestrian Center, and it scored eight big points for the Lyons.

The team competition continues Saturday with Emi Graf, Carly Bitler, Zhuohan Shen and Bessie Huggins, and Megan Bliamptis riding individually in Introductory.
