Swimming and diving wins second straight dual meet at Westfield State

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke College swimming and diving team won its second straight head-to-head meet on Friday night in the Lyons' first road meet, outscoring host Westfield State 165-111.

"The team has been working hard, and it was great to see it pay off today," said assistant coach Kevin Walker.

Top event performances and highlights by Mount Holyoke included:

  • The Lyons swept the 1,000 yard freestyle, 50 backstroke, and 50 butterfly.
  • Senior Kamlyn Yosick (Portland, Ore.) placed first in the 100- and 50-yard freestyle as well as being apart of both winning relays.
  • Senior Hannah Heierhoff (Wiesbaden, Germany) placed first in the 1,000 freestyle, 100 backstroke, and placed second in the 200 yard individual medley.
  • First-year Michelle Su (Helotes, Texas) finished first in both the 100- and 50-yard butterfly events.
  • Sophomore Madeline Hood (The Colony, Texas) placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle and first in the 200-yard breaststroke.
  • First-year Katherine Upton (Cambridge, Mass.) placed second in the 1-meter diving competition.

The Lyons return home to the MHC Natatorium for next Saturday's dual meet against Wellesley College, starting at 11am.
