Track & Field Excels at New England DIII Championships

PORTLAND, Maine (Feb. 16, 2013) - Led by several strong performances, the Mount Holyoke College indoor track & field team finished 20th of 26 teams at the New England Division III Championships, hosted by the University of Southern Maine on Saturday. The Lyons were paced by an All-New England performance from first year Camille Coklow (pictured) and a school record effort by the 4x800 meter relay team.

Coklow sprinted to second overall in the 55-meter dash, posting a time of 7.31 to earn All-New England honors. Additionally, she currently sits in the top 10 among Division III competitors and is in fine shape to be selected to this year's NCAA Championships.

In addition to her sprint performance, Coklow also helped the 4x200 relay team to 14th overall with a time of 1:50.12. That mark was an ECAC Qualifying mark as well. Other members of the relay team included senior captain Maddie Ballon and sophomores Amelia Tang and Nina Marciano.

The 4x800 meter relay then ran to 13th overall, qualifying for the ECAC Championships with a school record time of 10:05.09. The relay included sophomore captain Dana Fry, first year Elizabeth DeLeon and seniors Phoebe Tengdin and Jenna Slipke.

DeLeon also put forth a 15th place effort in the 800-meter run, posting a time of 2:23.99, while Coklow was 15th overall in the long jump with a mark of 4.75 meters.

The Lyons return to action next weekend when they compete at the Open New England Championships, hosted by Boston University. Action begins on Friday and runs through Saturday.
