BRUNSWICK, Maine (Apr. 20, 2013) - Action at the 2013 Aloha Relays concluded on Saturday and the Mount Holyoke College track & field team had an outstanding effort on the day. The meet, which was hosted by Bowdoin, featured seven teams and saw the Lyons place fifth overall. Leading the way was a pair of first-place finishes from first year Camille Coklow.
The sprinter won the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.46 and also claimed victory in the 200-meter dash with a mark of 25.59. Coklow also helped the 4x400 relay team to a fourth-place finish with a time of 4:28.54.
Other members of the relay included junior Lucia Garcia, senior Phoebe Tengdin and sophomore captain Dana Fry.
Tengdin also had a solid effort in the 800-meter run, finishing sixth in a time of 2:25.34. Other solid finishes on the track came from first year Molly Sagar, who was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:14.24. Junior Kathleen O'Connor also had a solid effort in the 400-hurdles, finishing fifth in a time of 1:15.23.
Sagar also excelled in the high jump, placing third overall in a height of 1.50 meters. Senior Maddie Ballon was fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 2.60 meters, while sophomore Jennie Ochterski was seventh in the hammer throw with a distance of 38.43 meters.
In the Heptathlon, sophomore Amber Legare finished third overall in the event with a score of 3,033 points. Among her highlights in the seven-event feature were wins in the shot put (9.80 meters) and the javelin throw (27.98 meters).
The Lyons are back in action next Saturday when they compete at the 2013 NEWMAC Championships, hosted by Springfield College.
