Track & Field Finishes 9th at Yellow Jackets Invitational

 SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Apr. 6, 2013) - The Mount Holyoke College track & field team saw a number of strong performances as it finished ninth overall in a field of 16 teams. The Lyons also had several victories as both first year Camille Coklow and sophomore captain Dana Fry each won their respective events.

Coklow (Chicago, Ill./The Latin School of Chicago) cruised to victory in the 100-meter dash, posting a time of 12.56, while Fry (Avon, Conn./Miss Porter's School) was victorious in the gruelling 10,000 meter race, finishing with an overall time of 39:38.57.

Other solid performances came from sophomore LuAnne Jessop (West Jordan, Utah/West Jordan), who was sixth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 13:34.86. Senior captain Maddie Ballon (Gillette, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) was eighth in the pole vault with a mark of 2.45 meters, while sophomore Amber Legare (Chicopee, Mass./Chicopee Comprehensive) was 11th overall in the shot put with a throw of 10.07 meters.

Rounding out the efforts was first year Jennie Ochterski (Middlefield, Conn./Cogincahug), who was 13th overall in the hammer throw with a distance of 33.13 meters.

Mount Holyoke returns to action next Saturday when it competes at the UMass Invite, hosted by UMass-Amherst.
