SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Audrey Hayes scored two goals and Hailey Gaydos had a goal and two assists as Springfield College defeated the Mount Holyoke College field hockey team 3-0 on Tuesday evening, avenging a loss to the Lyons a year ago.

Springfield snapped its six-game slide to improve to 4-8, 1-3 against conference foes while the Lyons evened their record to 6-6, 0-4.

Springfield scored in the first quarter and added goals in the second and fourth quarters. The Pride finished the game with a 16-8 advantage in shots, while the Lyons took seven of the game's 11 penalty corners.

Sophomores Scout Climie (Guilford, Conn.) and Diane Lee (Boston, Mass.) both put two shots on goal for the Lyons, and first-year MJ Owens (Fairfield, Conn.) produced one, but Kaitlyn Parent turned them away to earn a shutout in goal for Springfield.

Senior Rachel Katzenberg (Reisterstown, Md.) made seven saves for the Lyons.

Mount Holyoke will next play a non-conference game at Regis College on Thursday at 7pm. The Lyons will host Smith College Saturday at 7pm and celebrate Senior Day.
