Medical and compliance clearance is required yearly for all student-athletes. Please refer to the following documents for more information and resources.

Please refer to Clearance Instructions first if you have any questions.

Incoming Student-Athletes (including First Year, Transfer, New Athlete but Returning Student) are required by the NCAA to have a sports physical within 6 months of the start date of your prospective sport.

  • March 1st or later: Field Hockey, Soccer, Cross Country, Volleyball, and Rowing.

  • May 1st or later: Basketball, Swimming, Lacrosse, Equestrian, Track and Field (Indoor/Outdoor)

Returning student-athletes are not required, but encouraged to get a yearly physician with their home primary care provider.

Any Student-Athlete who is coming back from significant injury or illness that requires clearance from a physician NEEDs to send documentation for clearance for sport. This needs to be sent to athletictrainer@mtholyoke.edu prior to returning to practice/competition.
