Riding Remains Undefeated in Spring Season at Amherst Horse Show
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (March 10, 2007) - The Riding team earned Champion College honors for the third consecutive weekend, narrowly finishing ahead of second place UMASS Amherst by three points at the Amherst Horse Show. Becker College finished in third place with 28 points, followed by Williams (22), Amherst and Smith (20), Westfield (10) and Hampshire (7). Mount Holyoke College clinched the Regional Championship Title for the year with a total of 304 points over the Reserve Championship Team, the University of Massachusetts with a total of 264.
Sophomore Cassie Herman was named High Point Rider after competing against three other athletes in a ride-off. Herman took fist lace in Open Flat and and second place in Open Fences this past weekend. Lora Cobrowowski was named Reserve High Point Riding, tallying two second place finished at the Amherst Horse Show. Seven MHC riders qualifed to compete at Regionals with their performances on at Shelburne Falls. They will be joining 12 Mount Holyoke College riders who previously qualfied to ride at the Regional Championship Show being held at the University of Massachusetts at Hadley Farm in Hadley, Mass. on April 1, 2007.
With a first place finished in Open Flat at the Amherst Horse Show, senior Nathalie Cooper qualified to compete in the Cacchione Class at National Horse Show being held in Springfield, Mass. on May 3 -6th. The Cacchione Class consists of all high point riders from all around the country. Cassie Herman finished closely behind Nathalie Cooper and is the Reserve High Point Rider for the year in Region III, Zone I.MHC First Place Winners:
