Chase Adds ECAC Defensive Player of the Week to Trophy Case

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Oct. 21, 2009) – Mount Holyoke College sophomore field hockey player Tricia Chase has been named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Defensive Player of the Week for the week of October 12-18. The defender then assisted on senior midfielder Peggy Wefald's match winner in her team’s 2-0 victory over Babson College on Friday. She added a goal of her own in a 3-0 win over Hendrix College on Sunday.

For the season, Chase has totaled eight points on two goals and a squad best four assists. She is among the national leaders in defensive saves with seven. For her career, she has found the back of the cage three times and dished out five helpers.

Mount Holyoke (9-5, 3-3 NEWMAC) has racked up for consecutive victories and five in their last six outings. The Lyons will return to action tomorrow, when they visit Wesleyan University for a non-conference tilt beginning at 7:00 p.m.
