Rhode Island College junior guard Stephanie Coro has been named NEWBA Player of the Week for time period of November 15-28. Coro racked up 22.0 points per game to lead the Anchorwomen to a 4-1 start to their season. The guard converted 51.2% (40-78) of her shots from the field and 86.4% (19-22) of her free throw attempts. She also knocked down 11 three-pointers. Coro scored 20 or more points in each of her team's first five games. She was named Most Valuable Player of the 2010 Judges Classic after totaling 45 points over the course of the weekend. The junior got things going with 21 points in her team's 80-64 victory over Springfield College on November 20. One day later, she poured in 24 more points to boost the Anchorwomen to a 66-49 triumph over host Brandeis University. Coro was also instrumental in wins over Albertus Magnus College (23 points) and WPI (21 points).


Rookie of the Week

Connecticut College first year forward Tara Gabelman has been named NEWBA Rookie of the Week for the time period of November 15-28. Gabelman averaged a double-double on 19.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game over her team's first four contests. She knocked down 52.4% (22-42) of her shots from the floor and 77.9% (14-18) of her free throw attempts. The forward recorded double-doubles in two of her first three collegiate outings. Gamelman was named to the 2010 Judges Classic All-Tournament Team after leading the Camels to a 66-60 victory over Springfield College in the tournament's consolation game on November 21. In addition to erupting for 22 points, she also tallied 12 boards, five assists and a pair of blocked shots. Two days later, she recorded 25 points and 12 rebounds in her team's 72-52 triumph over Nichols College.

  • Emily Savino, Western New England College (So, G, Ellington, Conn.) - Savino averaged 18.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game in leading Western New England College to a perfect 4-0 record. The guard was named Most Valuable Player of the Golden Bears Hoop Classic after piling up 27 points in her team's 70-63 victory over the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in the Championship on November 20.
  • Corey Cuddihy, Bridgewater State University (Sr, G, Scituate, Mass.) - Cuddihy registered 16.3 points, 5.0 assists and 4.3 boards per game, as Bridgewater State University recorded a perfect 3-0 record over the first two weeks of the season. The guard was named Most Valuable Player of the Hunter College Tip-Off Tournament after averaging 17.5 points and 6.0 assists per game over the course of the weekend. She drained 10 three-pointers in her team's first three games.  
  • Vanessa Bosques, Daniel Webster College (Jr, G, North Windham, Conn.) - Bosques piled up 22.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game over Daniel Webster College's first three games. The guard exploded for a program record 42 points in the Eagles' heartbreaking 74-70 loss against Endicott College on November 23. Her 10 three-pointers in the contest were also a school record.
  • Becca Kimball, Wellesley College (So, F, Weston, Mass.) - Kimball has tallied 16.4 points and 7.4 boards per outing to catapult Wellesley College to a 4-1 start. The forward racked up 28 points in a 75-35 victory over Bryn Mawr College during the opening day of the 2010 Seven Sisters Classic. One day later, she cemented her spot on the All-Classic Team with 20 points and nine boards in a 61-47 triumph over Agnes Scott College.
  • Jenn Shinall, Connecticut College (Jr, G, Redding, Conn.) - Shinall pushed Connecticut College to a 2-2 start to its season with her solid all-around play. In addition to posting 19.5 points per game, she also amassed 4.8 rebounds, 4.3 steals and 2.3 assists per outing. The guard led the Camels to wins over Springfield College (21 points) and Nichols College (24 points).
