Lacrosse Claims IWLCA Academic Accolades
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Sept. 10, 2009) – The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) recently announced that the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team earned Academic Squad honors for the 2009 season. A total of 62 NCAA Division III teams qualified for the distinction by posting a collective grade point average of 3.0 or greater.
In addition to naming its Academic Squads, the IWLCA also revealed its Academic Honor Roll. A total of 407 student-athletes from 152 institutions were recognized by the organization for their excellence in the classroom. To be eligible a student-athlete must have at least junior year status and maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.50 for the spring semester.
Mount Holyoke was represented on the list by senior Ava Gottschall and junior Rachel Kurzweil.Gottschall was also honored at the conclusion of her junior campaign.
