Volleyball Nabs NEWMAC Sportsmanship Award

BABSON PARK, Mass. (Nov. 12, 2008) - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) recently announced its women's volleyball award winners for the 2008 season. A few days after helping to lead Springfield College to the NEWMAC Tournament Championship, Heather Lively was named the Athlete of the Year for the Conference. Her coach, Joel Dearing was selected to receive the Coach of the Year Award, while Cecily Joujon-Roche of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Kim Giaquinto of Springfield split Rookie of the Year honors. Mount Holyoke College received the NEWMAC Sportsmanship Award.

The Lyons closed out its 2008 campaign with an overall record of 4-15. They went winless in nine outings against league foes.
