Cross Country Finishes 29th and NCAA Regional Championship

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. (Nov. 15, 2008) - The Mount Holyoke College women's cross country team collected a 29th place result at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship today at Williams College. Senior Jessamyn Rising led the Lyons with a time of 25:47.1, which was good for 117th place overall.

Middlebury College raced to the team title, accumulating 57 points in the process. Williams nabbed second place (82), and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology grabbed third (161).

Elise Tropiano of Amherst College was the top individual finisher. She completed the 6,000-meter course in 21:49.3. Rounding out the top three were Lauren Philbrook of Williams (22:28.9) and Alexandra Krieg of Middlebury (22:34.5).

A total of seven Lyons took part in the event. Sophomore Rebecca Engell posted a 122nd place result (25:51.9), while first year Emily Follo tallied 162nd place (26:46.9).

Today marked the close of Mount Holyoke's 2008 season.
