SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke College hunt seat riding team took first place in the final IHSA show of the regular season Saturday at the MHC Equestrian Center, securing a place in the Zone I Championships on April 4 as the Lyons outscored runner-up UMass-Amherst 37-30.

Lyons award winners on the day included senior Charlotte Subak (Brooklyn, N.Y.) as Reserve High Point Rider, sophomore Emi Graf (Belmont, Mass.) as High Point Intermediate Rider, first-year Sophia Bull (Lumberton, N.J.) as Reserve High Point Limit Rider, junior Sabella Riccio (Jersey City, N.J.) as High Point Novice Rider, first-year Abby Hepp (Clifton Par, N.Y.) as Reserve High Point Novice Rider, and junior Kenny Yang (Jiangsu, China) as Reserve High Point Introductory Rider.

Mount Holyoke will next compete at the Zone I Region 3 Championships Sunday at Windstar Farms in Sterling, Mass.

After fences schooling (with special alum guests), junior Eliza Mutz (Stanford, Calif.) went into the ring for Open Fences and placed second on Ricochet, provided by junior Carly Bitler (Seymour, Ill.). In Intermediate Fences Section A, Carly Bitler rode her very own Ricochet and placed first. In the same section, Charlie May placed sixth. In section B of Intermediate Fences, Emi Graf placed first, qualifying for Regionals, and Charlotte Subak placed third. 

Next up was Limit Fences, in Section A, first-year Haoshun Sparks (Philadelphia, Pa.) placed third. In Section B, Sophia Bull placed first, qualifying for Regionals. In Section C, sophomore Bessie Huggins (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) placed first. 

In the Introductory division, Lia Liang placed fourth in Section A, qualifying for Regionals. In Section B, Kenny Yang placed first, qualifying for Regionals, and first-year Sage Jodock (Loveland, Ohio) placed second in her IHSA debut. 

Sophia Bull went into the ring in Section A of Limit Flat and placed fourth, and in Section B, Carly Bitler placed third.

In Open Flat, Charlotte Subak placed first. In Section A of Intermediate Flat, Emi Graf placed third, and in Section B, Grace Neumuth placed second. 

In the Novice Division, sophomore Em Jablonka (Westfield, N.J.) placed fifth. In Section B, first-year Nory van Rhyn (Montclair, N.J.) placed third. In Section C, Sabella Riccio placed first, qualifying for Regionals. In Section D, Az Reading placed second, qualifying for Regionals. Abby Hepp placed first in Pre-Novice. 

Congratulations to the following Regionals qualifiers: Lia Liang (Introductory), Kenny Yang (Introductory), Az Reading (Novice), Sabella Riccio (Novice), Sophia Bull (Limit Fences), Emi Graf (Intermediate Fences).

Carly Bitler, Emi Graf, and Charlotte Subak went back into the ring for a ride off for Reserve High Point Rider, with Subak prevailing.
