Lyons tie Owls 0-0 at Westfield State

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Senior captain Clarissa Govea had five saves to match Westfield State goalies Julia Robak's and Katie Valentine's total, as the Mount Holyoke soccer team played Westfield State University to a well-played 0-0 draw Wednesday night on the wet turf of Alumni Field.

The shutout was the fifth of Govea's (Pico Rivera, Calif.) Lyons career.

Mount Holyoke (1-2-3) played to its third tie in the past four games, in a game was statistically was even in shots (14-14), shots on goal (5-5) and corner kicks (5-5).

Senior Ada Siepmann (Vlotho, Germany) and junior Evie Krieg (Frisco, Texas) got three shots off apiece for Mount Holyoke, and junior Sage Hudson (Washington, D.C.) had two shots, both saved.

The game was the eighth meeting ever between the teams, and only the second since 2006. The Lyons are now 1-5-2 against the Owls.

Mount Holyoke will resume NEWMAC play on Saturday, hosting WPI at 3pm.
