The equestrian team continued to roll last weekend, defeating eight other teams to capture the Westfield State/Hampshire Show. The Lyons earned high point college honors in their final regular season show and the win also secured the regional victory for the Lyons, who won by a 63-point margin to advance to the Zone 1 finals.
Additionally, junior Alexa Lohrer was named the Cacchione Rider for Zone I, Region III. She will compete for the Cacchione Cup at Nationals in May. Lohrer was also named the Reserve High Point Rider at Sunday's show.
MHC returns to action on March 30 when it competes at the Regional Championships, hosted by Smith College.
First year sprinter Camille Coklow saw her indoor season come to an end last week in a valiant run during the preliminaries at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. Coklow, who will continue her rookie season during the outdoor campaign, finished 13th overall in the preliminaries with a mark of 7.89.
The track & field team is now idle until March 23 when it competes at the Westfield State Jerry Gravel Classic. Mount Holyoke will then host the MHC Spring Fling on March 30.
MHC posted a 2-1 record last week, defeating Westfield State (11-6) and New England College (19-5) while falling at Western New England (15-14). First year Julia Bell and senior Molly MacDonald paced the offense during that span. Both recorded a team-best 13 goals, while Bell added four assists and MacDonald had three helpers. The Lyons (3-1) are now idle until March 18 when they take on UMass-Dartmouth at 10am in Clermont, Florida during their spring trip. MHC will also face the University of Southern Maine during the break on Friday (9am).
The Lyons are now idle until March 30 when they host Endicott (10am) and Lesley (2pm) at the MHC Tennis Courts.
