Mount Holyoke returns to action this week when it competes at the 2013 IHSA National Championships. The event will take place from May 2-5 in Harrisburg, Pa., at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex. The Lyons will send a team of eight riders and five individuals to this year's event.
The Mount Holyoke dressage team hosted the 2013 IDA National Championships at the MHC Equestrian Center last weekend. It was an outstanding effort for MHC as they came away with the National Championship title! Congratulations to sophomore Taylor Dickinson, senior captain Rachel Berlage, juniors Carey Lang and Emily Murch, along with head coach Dee Loveless on your victory!
MHC posted an eighth-place finish at the 2013 NEWMAC Championships last weekend. Pacing the effort was first year Camille Coklow, who was second in the 100-meter dasha and third in the 200-meter dash. Additionally, her time in the 100 eclipsed the school record set in 1993 by Cheryl Daley - MHC's first All-American. The Lyons return to action this weekend when they compete at the New England Division III Championships on Friday and Saturday.
The Lyons appeared in the NEWMAC Semifinals last week for the first time since 2010. Despite a strong comeback in the second half, Mount Holyoke fell to Springfield - which went on to win this year's title - by a 14-9 margin. Senior attack Molly Macdonald paced the offense for the Lyons, tallying four goals.
Mount Holyoke (11-4; 4-2 NEWMAC) remains in the hunt for post-season action as they wait for the selection announcements to both the ECAC New England Championships and the NCAA Tournament. The fields for both are expected to be announced on May 5.
Mount Holyoke returns to the water on Saturday, when it competes at the New England Rowing Championships, hosted on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester.
The Lyons golf team concluded its season last weekend, finishing seventh overall at the Williams Spring Invitational. Mount Holyoke was led by sophomore Madi Mendiola, who finished seventh overall.
