The equestrian team continued its dominance last weekend, winning high point college honors and achieving a perfect score enroute to victory at the MHC Horse Show. Individually, Junior Alexa Lohrer (Carlisle, Mass.) received high point honors, while senior Isabelle McGovern (New York, N.Y.) was the reserve high point rider. Senior Morgan Cooley (Plymouth, Mass.) was high point intermediate rider and junior Ellen Lowden (Eugene, Ore.) was high point novice rider. MHC is now idle until December 8 when it participates in the Holiday Tournament of Champions.
The Lyons claimed victory in both of their meets last week, defeating Trinity (120-114) and Western Connecticut State (148-66). Junior Lauren Williams (Kingston, Jamaica) had an outstanding effort for MHC during that stretch, winning three individual events, while also helping two relay teams to victory. Mount Holyoke is now idle for the holiday break, but returns to the pool on December 1 when it hosts the MHC Invitational begining at 10am.
Mount Holyoke opened its 2012-13 season at the Keene State Tip-Off Tournament last week, going 1-1. The Lyons opened with a 70-44 win against Mount Ida, but fell in the championship game against the host Owls by a 67-50 margin. Sophomore forward Amber Legare (Chicopee, Mass.) was named to the All-Tournament Team after averaging 19.5 points and 8.5 rebounds with an assist, three blocks and a steal.
The Lyons return to action on Tuesday with a 5:30pm contest at nationally-ranked Amherst. Live stats for the game can be followed at http://www3.amherst.edu/~sports/tas/xlive.
