The equestrian team competed at the 2012 Holiday Tournament of Champions on Saturday at Otterbein University. The Lyons saw sophomore Callie Calder (Manhattan, N.Y.) and junior Eleanor Maynard (Colorado Springs, Colo.) each post second-place in their rides. MHC is back in action on January 26th, when it competes at the Winter Tournament of Champions in Virginia.
The Lyons concluded the 2012 portion of its season on Saturday, capturing 14 of 16 events to defeat the University of St. Joseph by a 144-123 margin. Senior Caitlin Lewis (Plainville, Conn.) helped lead the way, winning the 50-back, while helping the 200-medley relay team to victory. Mount Holyoke (4-1) is back in the pool on January 11th in a tri-meet against Clark and Wheaton in Norton, Mass., at 1pm.
Mount Holyoke shouldered losses to Clark (63-55) and MIT (65-52) last week in NEWMAC action. Senior captain Angelica Pascual (Lawrence, Mass.) guided the effort, averaging 13.5 points and 9.5 rebounds with nine assists and five steals. MHC (1-6; 0-4 NEWMAC) wraps-up its 2012 schedule on Tuesday when it travels to Worcester State for a 6pm game.

The #17 Lyons fell 7-2 against #18 Wesleyan last week - their final contest of 2012. Junior Randima Ranaweera and first year Sherouk Khefagy led the way, each grabbing the victory for Mount Holyoke. Both also improved to 3-0 on the season with their efforts. Mount Holyoke (2-1) is back on the court on January 8th in a 7pm contest at Trinity.
The Lyons are now idle until January 19th, when they return to action at Smith College's Beynon Invitational at 11am.
