Ashley Didion Accepted to NCAA National Leadership Conference

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (April 18, 2007) - In an announcement made on April 5th, Great Falls, Va. native Ashley Didion was chosen to participate in the 2007 NCAA National Leadership Conference to be held in late May at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Didion was one of over 1,300 nominations from 330 NCAA institutions. A total of 356 student athletes were selected to participate in the conference from Division I, II, and III schools.

The NCAA National Leadership Conference provides NCAA student-athletes with a forum to openly discuss issues that may affect them on their campuses and in their communities, while also providing them with the opportunity to enhance their leadership, communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills. The leadership conference also promotes better communication among student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty and communities. The five-day leadership conference consists of daily exercises and activities to help the student-athletes develop as individuals and as contributing members to a group.

Didion, a junior biology major at Mount Holyoke College, is a three-year member of the Mount Holyoke College Crew team. As a junior she has served as a captain for the Varsity Crew team. In 2005, Didion was recognized by the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference Honors. She was also a member of the Novice Eight boat that finished in first place at the NEWMAC Championships that season.
