Swimming and Diving Takes 9th Place

After three days of swimming at the NEWMAC Women's Swimming and Diving Championship, the Lyons placed 9th out of 10 teams. Springfield netted its seventh straight championship win.

On the first day of the meet, Mount Holyoke's relay teams came up big placing 8th in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:47.06 and placing 7th in the 400 Medley Relay led in both races by Senior Rebecca Campbell and Junior Grace Bauer. Bauer also swam strong in the 200 IM placing 12th with a time of 2:19.76. In the 1 Mtr Diving Event, Sophomore Kelsey Holmes received points for her 16th place finish with a score of 311.8.

The Lyons started off day two of the tournament with another strong relay finish of 8th place in the 200 Medley. Bauer posted first-rate results swimming to a 7th place finish in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:01.98.

On the last and final day of the tournament, Campbell and Bauer, along with first-years Carly Williamson and Laura Ferrante, took 9th place in the 400 Freestyle Relay. Mount Holyoke swam away in 9th place ahead of WPI.
