NORTHAMPTON, Mass. -- Sophomore Ioanna Tsoni took first place in four events, leading Mount Holyoke to a strong second place against rivals Smith and Wellesley in their annual indoor tri-meet Saturday at Smith College.
Using a 5-3-2-1 scoring system that rewarded points for top-four event finishes, Mount Holyoke scored 59 points, trailing Smith (68) and outpacing Wellesley (40).
For the second straight week, the Lyons also rewrote their program top-10 all-time performance lists, making seven changes in six different events.
Tsoni (Athens, Greece) won the 200 meters in a career-best 26.21 seconds, passing Akua Soadwa (2002) and Charleen Theroux (2019) in moving from fifth place to third on Mount Holyoke's all-time performance list.
Tsoni also won the 60 hurdles (9.32 seconds), the triple jump (10.92 meters) and the long jump (5.15 meters), accounting for 20 of the Lyons' team points.
Other Lyons highlights included:
- Senior Aria Mallare (Chicago, Ill.) placed third in the 60 meters (8.32), third in the high jump (1.41 meters), and fourth in the long jump (4.84 meters)
- Junior Elle Rimando (Mililani, Hawaii) took second place in the triple jump (10.70 meters), third place in the 200 meters (27.54), third in the long jump (4.91 meters), and fourth in the high jump (1.36 meters)
- Sophomore Dalia Luckhardt (Cerritos, Calif.) placed third in the 400 meters in 1:02.73, scoring two team points and becoming Mount Holyoke's ninth-fastest athlete all-time in the event.
- First-year Sachi Robinson (Staten Island, N.Y.) placed third in the 600 meters in 1:45.31, moving into ninth place all-time in the event for Mount Holyoke.
- Senior Kim Beaver (Agawam, Mass.) smashed her two-year-old PR in the 1,000 meters by nearly six seconds in a time of 3:05.4, finishing in second place and vaulting into fourth place on Mount Holyoke's all-time performance list.
- Senior Greta Trapp (La Crosse, Wis.) cut her PR in the 1,000 meters by more than three seconds, finishing third in the event in a time of 3:05.73. Trapp moved past Andy Costello (1999) and Halaina Demba (2008) and behind Beaver into fifth place on the Lyons' all-time list.
- Senior Tessa Lancaster (Mansfield, Mass.) placed second in the mile, finishing in a season-best time of 5:18.08.
- Senior Elizabeth Gerbi (Orono, Maine) finished the 3,000 meters in a personal-besrt 10:49.30, placing third out of 12 runners and passing Dana Fry (2015) and Simone Jacob (2019) into ninth place on Mount Holyoke's all-time performance list.
- Robinson, Luckhardt, sophomore Anjali Phadnis (San Marcos, Calif.), and Beaver placed second in 4:19.75, becoming Mount Holyoke's eighth-fastest 4x400 relay team ever.
- Senior Lize Brown (New London, Conn.) placed third in both the weight throw (11.46 meters) and the shot put (9.15 meters).
- Sophomore Fannie Fouron (North Easton, Mass.) took fourth place in the shot put (9.02 meters).
The Lyons travel to The Track at New Balance in Boston next Friday and Saturday for the New England Division III Indoor Championships.
