MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -- Mount Holyoke senior Madeline Barton was named NEWMAC Volleyball Offensive Athlete of the Week on Monday, with a stellar performance that gives the senior outside hitter two of the honors this month and three in her career.
Barton (Brookfield, Wis.) averaged 5.19 points, 4.50 kills, a .301 attack percentage, 0.63 aces, and 3.75 digs per set in a 1-1 week for the Lyons. She had 19 kills with a .390 attack percentage, three aces, and 15 digs in a 3-1 win over Salve Regina on Saturday, after posting 17 kills and 15 digs in a 3-1 loss to Emerson on Tuesday.
Barton leads the NEWMAC with 4.11 kills and 4.63 points per set. Last week she became the second player in team history to collect 1,000 kills.
Barton was also named NEWMAC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept 2 of this season, as well as on Sept. 11, 2023.
Mount Holyoke plays its first road NEWMAC match on Tuesday at 7pm at WPI.
