Kosovar Soccer Players Pay Visit to Mount Holyoke
Mount Holyoke recently hosted a group of soccer players and coaches from Kosovo, who were visiting the region to improve their skills and to build relationships with local players. The group included 12 players and two coaches for three weeks in April.

Members of the Mount Holyoke soccer team recently welcomed a group of traveling Japanese college players to campus for three days worth of intercultural activities. The visit included a friendly exhibition match on Wednesday at the Soccer Field.

Soccer Team Earns NSCAA Ethics Gold Award
Mount Holyoke's soccer program has earned the prestigious NSCAA Ethics/Sportsmanship Gold Award after completing its entire season without receiving either a yellow or red card. The Lyons were one of just 13 teams from around the nation to be honored.

Soccer Team Claims NSCAA National Academic Honors
Mount Holyoke's soccer program was recently honored by the NSCAA for its outstanding work in the classroom during the 2010-11 academic year. The Lyons received the organization’s Team Academic Award after posting a team grade point average of 3.37.

NEWMAC Announces Fall Academic All-Conference Squads
The NEWMAC recently announced its 2011 Fall Academic All-Conference Teams. Twenty-three Mount Holyoke student-athletes were recognized for their achievements in their respective sports as well as in the classroom. Academic All-Conference Teams were selected for the sports of cross country, field hockey, soccer, tennis and volleyball.

Yee Named to NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team
First year midfielder Hannah Yee was named to the NEWMAC Women’s Soccer All-Conference Second Team after her dynamic rookie campaign. Yee made an immediate impact for the Lyons with her outstanding all-around play. In addition to facilitating the team's offense from the midfield, she also knocked in a team-best six goals. She scored goals in three of Mount Holyoke's five wins.

Cooke Collects Lyon of the Week Accolades
Senior Mary Cooke has earned the Lyon of the Week Award for the week of October 24-30 after leading the soccer team to a 3-0 triumph over MCLA on Wednesday. The midfielder figured in on two of Mount Holyoke's three goals, scoring one and setting up another.

Soccer Falls to Springfield in Snowy Finale
Mount Holyoke closed out its season with a 3-0 loss to Springfield on a snowy afternoon at the Soccer Field. The match was called at the 19:18 mark of the second half, when the field became unsuitable for play. Prior to the contest, Mount Holyoke's seven seniors were honored for the contributions to the program over the last four years.

Mount Holyoke puts the finishing touches on its 2011 campaign versus nationally ranked Springfield College Saturday afternoon (1:00 p.m.) at the Soccer Field. Last fall, the Lyons fell 4-0 to their NEWMAC counterparts despite a season- best 18 saves from goalkeeper Elaine Harvey. A senior day celebration is slated to take place on the field prior to the contest.

First year forward Amber Legare used an assist from senior midfielder Mary Cooke to net her first collegiate goal in Mount Holyoke's 2-1 loss to NEWMAC foe WPI this afternoon at the Soccer Field. The Lyons finished with advantages in both shots (16-12) and corners (8-1).

Mount Holyoke hosts NEWMAC foe WPI Tuesday afternoon (4:30 p.m.) at the Soccer Field. Last fall, the Lyons fell 4-0 at WPI. Forward Megan Forti notched a natural hat trick in the first half to lead the way for the Engineers. In 14 previous meetings between the programs, WPI owns a 10-3 advantage. The two teams finished in a tie on one occasion.

Mount Holyoke was edged 1-0 by NEWMAC foe MIT this afternoon at the Soccer Field. Both sides went scoreless until the 77:52 mark, when first year midfielder Ambika Krishnamachar found the back of the net for what proved to be the lone goal. First year midfielder Hannah Yee paced the Lyons with four shots.

Mount Holyoke and MIT square off for a pivotal NEWMAC match Saturday afternoon (1:00 p.m.) at the Soccer Field. The Lyons will be looking for their first win over the Engineers since the 2003 season. Last year, they fell 6-0 despite 12 saves from goalkeeper Elaine Harvey.

Soccer Team Plans Breast Cancer Awareness Event
In an effort to raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer, the Mount Holyoke soccer team will be wearing pink during its match against MIT on Saturday. The Lyons will add pink socks and shoelaces to their uniforms and will also sport pink t-shirts during their pre-game warm-up. They will call the event “Pink Kick Day”.

Mount Holyoke came up just short in its bid to knock off first-place Babson this afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers Field. The Beavers scored two times in the final 12 minutes to escape with a 2-0 victory. Junior forward Kiana Lussier finished with six shots for the Lyons.

Senior forward Mary Cooke found the back of the net midway through double overtime to boost Mount Holyoke to a dramatic 3-2 triumph over Coast Guard this evening. With the win, the Lyons snapped a four-match slide and improved to 2-2 in NEWMAC play. It was their sixth straight victory over the Bears.

Junior midfielder Mallory Phaneuf collected a goal and an assist to lead Mount Holyoke to a convincing 3-1 triumph over longtime rival Smith this afternoon. It was the NEWMAC opener for both squads. Senior forwards Margaret Hanmer and Mary Cooke also netted goals for the Lyons.

The Mount Holyoke soccer team will be looking to return to the postseason in 2011after a one-year hiatus. The Lyons are scheduled to open up their season at home against Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday, September 10 at 1:00 p.m. Their regular season will consist of 16 matches.

Haneishi Weighs in on the Women’s World Cup
Mount Holyoke head soccer coach Kanae Haneishi recently sat down with "Questioning Authority" to discuss the 2011 Women's World Cup. Haneishi's native Japan will take on Sweden in one semifinal match. On the other side of the bracket, the United States will square off against France after its exciting triumph over Brazil on Sunday.
