PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -- Imani Walcott had 16 points, 13 rebounds and three steals, and SUNY Plattsburgh limited the Mount Holyoke College basketball team to a .224 field goal percentage en route to an 82-42 non-conference victory over the Lyons on Friday night.
Plattsburgh (2-0) took a 21-8 lead after one quarter and outscored the Lyons (0-3) in each period of the game. The Cardinals outrebounded the Lyons 58-40 and shot .397 from the field, .370 from three-point territory.
Senior guard Alex Twomey (Nutley, N.J.) led the Lyons with 14 points to go with six rebounds and three assists. Junior Sofia Francisco (Boston, Mass.) contributed 12 points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots. First-year Erica Yokota (Tokyo, Japan) and junior Hannah Goen (New London, N.H.) scored seven points apiece.
Walcott shot 7-9 from the field for Plattsburgh, and Lauren Lafountain added 10 points off the bench. Fourteen Cardinals scored in the game.
Mount Holyoke continues play at the Cardinal Classic on Saturday at 3pm against SUNY Potsdam.
