NEWPORT, R.I. -- The Mount Holyoke College basketball team trailed by only four points with 6:05 left in the game, but the host Salve Regina University Seahawks scored the game's final 11 points for a 64-47 NEWMAC victory Wednesday night.

Salve Regina (9-15, 3-7 NEWMAC) never trailed and maintained a lead of between 5-12 points for the majority of the game.

Mount Holyoke (4-20, 0-10 NEWMAC) trailed 47-35 at the start of the fourth quarter but made a 12-4 run to cut the gap to 51-47, capped by a 3-pointer banked in from the right wing by sophomore Helena Robinson (Gales Ferry, Conn.).

Robinson's three was preceded in the run by a pair of jumpers by senior Taryn White (Alexandria, Va.), to go with a 3-pointer and a floater in the lane by senior Alex Twomey (Nutley, N.J.).

Seahawks forward Sofia Neary responded to the Lyons' threat with six consecutive points within two minutes to reestablish a double-digit lead for the hosts. A three-point play by Emma Cochrane with 3:10 to go further dampened the Lyons' comeback efforts.

Robinson finished with a season-high 15 points on 7-12 shooting, eight rebounds and four blocked shots to lead Mount Holyoke. White added 12 points and eight rebounds, while Twomey made five steals in addition to her eight points and five rebounds.

Neary led the Seahawks with 18 points, 14 rebounds, six blocked shots and three steals. Frankie Spadorcia added 13 points on 6-7 shooting.

Salve Regina made no 3-pointers on only two attempts in the game, but the Seahawks outshot Mount Holyoke .407 to .308 from the field and had a big advantage at the free throw line, making 16-30 (.533) while Mount Holyoke went 3-8 (.375).

Mount Holyoke will host Coast Guard on Saturday at 1pm and celebrate Senior Day for Twomey, White and junior guard Jane Wu (Ellsworth, Maine), who is graduating early, in the Lyons' season finale.
