Rowing opens fall season at Head of the Snake regatta

SHREWSBURY, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke rowing team got the 2025-26 fall season of competition under way with solid results Saturday at the Head of the Snake Regatta on Quinsigamond Lake.

The Lyons' varsity four placed ninth among 16 boats, covering the course in 18:42.4 to defeat boats from Gordon, URI, UNH, Colby, and Assumption. Division I Holy Cross had the top two boats in the division, followed by five MIT fours and Vermont (18:20.5) in eighth place.

In women's collegiate eights, Mount Holyoke placed 20th out of 25 boats, outrowing boats from Connecticut College, WPI, and Clark with a time of 16:55.1.

The Lyons will race at the Head of the Charles in Boston on Sunday, Oct. 19.
