SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke swimming and diving team hosted the men's and women's teams from NEWMAC rivals Clark University and Wheaton College on Friday, with each team competing head-to-head in team scoring. Mount Holyoke outscored Clark 152-66, while Wheaton outscored Mount Holyoke 141-85.
Highlights from the Lyons included:
- Junior Isabel Dunn (Harbor Springs, Mich.) took first place among seven swimmers in the 100-yard butterfly, with a time of 1:04.91. Dunn was also third in the 200-yard IM (2:28.08)
- First-year Ellie Lewis (Spencer, Ind.) took second place out of nine swimmers in the 200-yard individual medley (2:24.53), and finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.70).
- First-year Katie Thomason (Alexandria, Va.) placed second in the 100-yard butterfly (a career-best 1:07.31) and fourth in the 500 free (5:59.86).
- First-year Maya Oakes (Pine Bush, N.Y.) placed second out of 11 swimmers in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:05.50. Oakes was also fourth in the 200 free 2:07.98
- Sophomore Katherine Upton (Cambridge, Mass.) was edged 172.43-171.60 by Wheaton's Ella Kent in 1-meter diving, and also scored 181.13 points uncontested in 3-meter diving.
- Junior Madeline Hood (The Colony, Texas) took second place in the 100-yard freestyle (58.70) and third in the 1000 free (12:17.93)
- Senior Sophie Allen (Lopez Island, Wash.) placed third in both the 50-yard freestyle (27.00) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.26).
- Senior Molly Malloy (Atlanta, Ga.) placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (27.49).
- The 400-yard freestyle relay team of junior Nat Rockwell (Orwell, Vt.), Dunn, Allen, and Lewis placed second in 4:03.15.
Mount Holyoke travels to Boston on Saturday for a dual meet at Simmons University beginning at 12pm.
