BOSTON -- The Mount Holyoke swimming and diving team had a strong performance on the second of back-to-back meet days on Saturday, posting the best result in all but three events en route to a 157-84 dual-meet win at Simmons University.

"It was a great win. The team swam really well for this time of the season, especially on the second of back-to-back meets," said head coach Dave Allen.

Mount Holyoke's highlights included:

  • First-year Maya Oakes (Pine Bush, N.Y.) took first place in the 50-yard backstroke (31.16), the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.19), and the 500-yard freestyle (5:57.06).
  • Sophomore Katherine Upton (Cambridge, Mass.) took first place in 1-meter diving with 193.05 points, as well as first place in 3-meter diving (188.70) over Simmons' Autumn Welch. "Katherine Upton did a great job on both boards yesterday and today," said Allen. "She competed a couple of new dives with higher DD's."
