HARTFORD, Conn. -- The Mount Holyoke College swimming and diving team raced well while accepting a pair of head-to-head team scoring losses in a tri-meet with Vassar and Trinity on Tuesday afternoon at Trinity College.
The Lyons were outscored 255-38 by Trinity and 212-72 by Vassar.
"We swam very well today, even though results don't reflect that," said head coach Dave Allen. "People swam in 'off' events for the most part, so we had a number of personal-best times since people don't always swim these events."
Top-six event performances by the Lyons included:
- Senior Sophie Allen (Lopez Island, Wash.) took fifth place in the 500-yard freestyle (6:22.73) and sixth place in the 50-yard freestyle (27.17).
- First-year Maya Oakes (Pine Bush, N.Y.) took fifth place in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:11.83).
- First-year Evelyn Rousseau (Hudsonville, Mich.) took sixth place in the 200-yard freestyle (2:11.96).
- First-year Ellie Lewis (Spencer, Ind.) placed sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:16.80).
- Sophomore Katherine Upton (Cambridge, Mass.) was third in 1-meter (144.30) and 3-meter (178.65) diving.
- Junior Isabel Dunn (Harbor Springs, Mich.) finished sixth in the 1,000 free (12:15.17).
- Junior Nat Rockwell (Orwell, Vt.) placed sixth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:11.98).
Mount Holyoke travels to the Sisters Invitational this weekend at Wellesley College, starting at 10:30am on both Saturday and Sunday.
