Upton leads Lyons on 3-meter board on final day of NEWMAC Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Mount Holyoke College sophomore Katherine Upton placed 13th in 3-meter diving with 319.55 points to highlight the fourth and final day of action at the 2026 NEWMAC Swimming & Diving Championships Sunday at MIT.

Upton (Cambridge, Mass.) scored eight team points for her performance, as Mount Holyoke finished in 10th place with 168 points over four days. Upton led the Lyons individually with 14 points scored at the meet.

Sunday's additional Day 4 highlights for Mount Holyoke included:

  • First-year Maya Oakes (Pine Bush, N.Y.) placed 22nd out of 31 athletes in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:19.62.
  • Junior Isabel Dunn (Harbor Springs, Mich.) took 22nd place in the 200-yard butterfly, with a finals time of 2:23.98.
  • First-year Evelyn Rousseau (Hudsonville, Mich.) placed 23rd in the 1,650-yard freestyle in 19:49.12.
  • Senior Molly Malloy (Atlanta, Ga.) placed 35th among 49 swimmers in the 100-yard freestyle, in 59.13 seconds.
  • First-year Ellie Lewis (Spencer, Ind.) placed 24th out of 34 swimmers in the 200-yard breaststroke, in 2:40.68.
  • Placing 10th in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:51.37 were Malloy, first-year Katie Thomason (Alexandria, Va.), Dunn and junior Madeline Hood (The Colony, Texas).

Saturday Highlights

  • Isabel Dunn qualified for the B Final and finished 15th in the 400-yard individual medley, highlighting the third day of the NEWMAC Swimming & Diving Championships for the Lyons. Dunn advanced to Saturday night's B Final in the 400-yard individual medley with her morning trial time of 4:51.55, 12th fastest among 26 competitors. In the B Final, she took 15th place overall in 4:54.22.
  • Katie Thomason finished one spot out of the B Final in the 400 IM with her time of 5:04.63, placing 21st.
  • Maya Oakes placed 23rd in the 100 backstroke trials (1:04.74).
  • First-year Naomi Long (Omaha, Neb.) placed 25th in the 100-yard butterfly trials (1:08.22).
  • Madeline Hood took 26th place in the 200 freestyle (2:03.04).
  • Ellie Lewis finished 28th in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.93).
  • Mount Holyoke took 10th place in Saturday night's 200-yard medley relay, with Oakes, Lewis, Dunn, and Molly Malloy finishing in 1:57.26.

Friday Highlights

  • Katherine Upton placed 15th out of 20 divers in 1-meter diving, with 298.90 points.
  • Molly Malloy took 35th place in the 50-yard freestyle trials (26.27) to lead MHC swimmers.
  • Madeline Hood led the Lyons in the 500 freestyle, placing 35th (5:39.50).
  • Ellie Lewis placed 38th the 200 individual medley (2:24.71).

On Thursday night, the Lyons took 10th place in the 800-yard freestyle relay (8:24.13) with Thomason, Dunn, Lewis, and Hood finishing in 8:24.13.
