WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - It was an outstanding effort on Saturday afternoon as the Mount Holyoke College cross country team closed out their fall season finishing 19th overall out of 57 teams at the 2014 NCAA New England Regional Championship, hosted by Williams College. The Lyons were paced by sophomore Becca Rogers, who finished 68th overall.
Rogers posted a time of 23:39.2 in the event, which featured 387 runners. Senior Dana Fry was 109th on the day, crossing the line with a time of 24:22.4, while first year Sunny Shan was 113th overall, posting a time of 24:27.4.
Junior Elizabeth DeLeon was close behind, crossing the line in a time of 24:32.3 to place 118th overall, while sophomore Brianna Weir was 169th overall with a time of 25:17.8. Classmate Hannah Rickard finished 183rd with a time of 25:26.1, while first year Mia Barnes closed out the solid efforts for Mount Holyoke in 251st with a time of 26:35.8.
MIT won this year's regional, posting an overall score of 40 points. Middlebury was runner-up with a score of 65, while Williams finished third with a mark of 95 points. The Engineers and the Panthers have earned the two automatic qualifying bids to the NCAA Tournament.
